Ingredients

  • Small bowl
  • 2 tablespoons of unrefined, virgin coconut oil
  • Fresh or dried lavender springs (or 2 drops lavender essential oil)
  • Measuring spoons

Directions

  1. Take 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and place it in a bowl (for medium length hair). If you have longer or shorter hair you may need to increase or decrease the amount of coconut oil you use.
  2. Remove the lavender leaves from the stem and place the lavender in the bowl with the oil.
  3. Place your bowl in a sauce pan that is filled with water.
  4. Turn on medium heat and allow the oil to boil to melt down to a liquid. Boil for 45 minutes to an hour.
  5. Remove from the heat and allow to sit for 10-15 minutes.
  6. If desired, strain the lavender from the mixture.
  7. Apply as a pre-shampoo treatment to dry hair, focusing on your ends, edges and roots.
  8. Shampoo and condition as you normally would.

To use this mixture on your skin, dilute to half with water in a spray bottle and use as needed.
