Beef is cooking on the set of The Voice between singer/fashion icon Gwen Stefani and the new “chief advisor to judges” and also singer/fashion icon Rihanna according to The National Enquirer.

Insiders told the tabloid that Rihanna’s appointment has angered the No Doubt singer, who serves alongside Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Pharrell Williams on the NBC competition series.

Despite her publicist’s denial, a source told The Enquirer: “Gwen’s had a grudge against RiRi that goes back years, even though she was the one who started it.”

As the story goes, Gwen was asked in a 2011 interview to define how she is different from Rihanna. She replied: “I usually put pants on.”

The source explained: “Rihanna’s the type to hold a grudge and thought Gwen was way out of line.”

Stefani will soon be forced to work with Rihanna, and she’s not happy, the source said.

“Gwen’s convinced Rihanna’s being paid way too much and that she’ll throw herself around on the show and expect to be queen bee,” added the source. “She’s not going to sit back and let that happen.”

The Voice returns September 21 on NBC, airing Monday and Tuesdays at 8 p.m.
