Black-ish creator Kenya Barris has been inspired to create a new series loosely based on the marriage of John Legend and his model-turned-TV host wife Chrissy Teigen.
The project, tentatively called “Ordinary People” after the popular song by the same name, will have Teigen and Legend serve as executive producers.
“It’s inspired by them — they’re both super creative and super effusive and I’m just fans of them and everything they stand for,” Barris told Buzzfeed. “I’m really excited about it.”
Barris, who just inked a three-year overall deal with ABC Studios to develop new projects, said that the show “will be about an interracial couple. We don’t know what’s going to be what. But it will be a part of the show in terms of showing those two world’s colliding and coming together — their issues and their obstacles that [happen inside] their personal relationship.”
The show will feature an interracial couple similar to Teigen, who is of Norwegian and Thai descent, and Legend, who is black. If ABC picks up the pilot, filming for the project will begin in February 2016.
Meanwhile, Chrissy has taken to social media to address rumors that she and John are headed for divorce. MediaTakeOut credits a “Top Insider,” who worked on a show with Chrissy, for spilling the tea about her marriage, claiming she and John “constantly argue.” The MTO insider explained, “John would come on set and talk down to Chrissy. It’s messed up because she’s such a happy person. I hated watching him treat her like that.”
Another entertainment power player tells MTO that John has “disdain” for Chrissy, explaining: “He thinks she’s annoying, and I sense that he might secretly have disdain for her. I don’t know why he would marry her – if her felt that much animosity towards her.”
The person who worked with Chrissy told MediaTakeOut, “I’d be shocked if they were together by the New Year.”
It didn’t take long for Teigen to react to this mess. She said the claims are coming from the “lowest of the low.”
