You may remember when Angie Stone and her grown daughter, Diamond Stonewere involved in an altercation earlier this year. (Stone also has a teenage son with singer D’Angelo.) In that incident, Diamond accused Stone of physically assaulting her and knocking her teeth out after an argument that started when Angie got upset with Diamond, who lives in her Atlanta home, over Diamond’s alleged inability to discipline her children.  Stone was arrested.

We haven’t heard much from either woman since, as Stone quit R&B Divas: Atlanta last year, allegedly because her then-boyfriend/manager was cheating on her with one of the show’s staff. But apparently, Angie and her daughter are still working through their issues. This time, though, they’ve enlisted Bishop T. D. Jakes to help them out via his new self-titled show. It’s currently in a test run in four markets nationwide, with the hopes of greater circulation down the line.

Even Jakes seems surprised by the depths of the discord between mother and daughter in this clip. Let’s hope they were able to work things out.  If you can’t catch the show when it airs in these four markets

  • WFAA Dallas from 3-4 p.m.
  • WKYC Cleveland from 3-4 p.m.
  • WXIA Atlanta from 2-3 p.m.
  • KARE Minneapolis from 2-3 p.m.

then you can also watch clips on YouTube.

Black people have a lot of hatred for one another even within there own families.i believe one has slept with the others man.i feel something much deeper.this isnt the way mom and daughter should be carrying on.i hope teenage girls don’t see this and think this behavior is okay.its unhealthy for both mom and daughter.

I hope one of our networks can pick this show up. Our community needs more shows like this and Iyana, who are trying to heal families.

  3. I’m sure both are hurt by the level of disrespect displayed on national TV! But my gosh, mom knocked her teeth out! This discord must have started years ago. Hope the kids didn’t witness the fight or know about this show. SMH!

I can’t imagine having this kind of troubled relationship with my mom and never would expect to have with my kids. I really hope they can get it together, life is way too short and when you’re gone it’s too late to say I’m sorry. Wishing them the best.
