Uniting to put their arrest for lewd behavior behind them, “Django Unchained” actress Daniele Watts and her boyfriend Brian Lucas wrote an apology letter regarding the incident.

But according to TMZ, the effort was less than stellar as the couple put the blame on the arresting officers Watts accused of racism. The letter comes as part of a deal Watts and Lucas took in May after pleading no contest to disturbing the peace for allegedly having sex in a car outside the CBS Studios in the San Fernando Valley last September.

In the letter, Watts mentioned that recent stories of biased policing resulted in her behavior. As a result, TMZ noted that the entertainer said she got defensive because one of the officers quipped, “Thank you for bringing up the race card. I never hear that.”

In addition to the arresting officers, the site reports that Watts and Lucas took an aggressive tone with an apology letter they wrote to employees in the office building where their car was parked during the alleged hookup, saying:

“We are truly sorry that our expression of love caused such a disturbance to your lives that you felt it was threatening enough to warrant police involvement.”

People in the building called the police to complain after they noticed Watts and Lucas having sex in the car.
