Earlier this year a young woman’s life changed forever after she won the power ball worth a whopping $188M.

Five months later she has been charged with having a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in her home.

FOX 8 reports:

WWAY reported that Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies have cited 26-year-old Marie Holmes with possession of marijuana.

Holmes was recently cited with having a half ounce or less of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at her home in Shallotte.

The arrest comes after deputies reportedly went to Holmes’ home to arrest her roommate for violating the terms of his release.

Deputies allegedly smelled marijuana, got a search warrant, found the marijuana and cited her. She has court in September.

Holmes won one of the three winning tickets for the Feb. 11 Powerball Jackpot of $564 million. She went with the lump sum of $127 million, which came out to be about $88 million after taxes.

Holmes has four young children, all under the age of 9. She had said that the money will make a difference for her kids.

The two other winning tickets were bought in Puerto Rico and Texas.

WECT in Wilmington has provided video of drug agents at Holmes’ home.
