When we spoke to Michael Jai White, around the release of his male stripper flick Chocolate City, the hunky martial artist described the moment, following a
not-so life-threatening accident, when he realized he was in love with his new wife Gillian Waters.
“Upon thinking I was going to die, I realized one of the calls I had to make was to her to profess the fact that I felt like I’ve always been in love with her,” he explained.
Now starring on the TBS comedy For Better or Worse, White was the first African-American to portray a major comic book superhero in a major motion picture in 1997’s Spawn. Waters is a Howard University graduate wbo has starred in music videos for LL Cool J and Boyz II Men.
Waters also starred as China Lee in the popular soap opera Days of our Lives, and as Amoria in Xena: Warrior Princess. The couple will next appear in the movie Never Back Down 3 together.
Earlier this year, White generated some controversy when he wrote an open letter apologizing to his past girlfriends. He said he never knew how to truly love until Waters came into his life.
Two months ago after the accident, Michael and Gillian had an intimate ceremony held at a friend’s estate in Thailand with elephants, drummers, Thai dancers and all.
Now on their honeymoon on the Indian Ocean in Krabi Province, the couple is planning a California reception for family and friends later this year.
