Queen Latifah has signed on to star opposite Jennifer Garner in Sony’s faith-based drama “Miracles From Heaven.”

Directed by Patricia Riggen, the film, which is based on Christy Beam’s book of the same name, recounts how her young daughter miraculously overcame an incurable, life-threatening digestive disorder.

Garner stars as Christy Beam, and Latifah as a Boston waitress, who, according to The Hollywood Reporter, will serve as “something of an earthly angel who befriends the sick girl and Beam during their visits to Boston Children’s Hospital,” and who, in addition, “steps up to provide comfort and a helping hand when they need it most, as her life ends up transformed by her interaction with the family.”

T.D. Jakes, DeVon Franklin and Joe Roth will produce, the team behind last year’s breakthrough hit “Heaven Is for Real” – which earned more than $100 million worldwide, becoming one of the highest-grossing faith-based moves of all time.

Sony Pictures has scheduled “Miracles From Heaven” for release on March 18, 2016, one week before the Easter holiday.

Latifah, whose last faith-based film was 2012’s “Joyful Noise,” also voices the role of Ellie in the “Ice Age” movies. The next installment in that franchise will be released July 15, 2016.

Sony Pictures, which has been a trailblazer in the mainstream faith-based film market, recently announced that on August 28th of this year, it will release another faith-based drama titled “War Room,” which explores the power that prayer can have on every area of our lives.

One of the best things about producing anti-science, faith-based films is that the biggest star, God, doesn’t even have to show up, saving production a ton of money! Of course, we’re still waiting on our dream faith-based ‘fairies and unicorns’ movie set in ancient Africa. Will someone please contact M.Night Shyamalan and have him meet with Ava Duvernay and Guillermo del Toro to discuss how to make our dream movie happen!
