Some immediate B.B. King family members will have a chance to visit his body at a Las Vegas funeral home ahead of a Friday public viewing and Saturday private memorial for the blues icon.

Attorneys representing one of King’s daughters against King’s agent and power-of-attorney, LaVerne Toney, said Thursday’s family-only viewing was a compromise reached during a Monday meeting with a court probate commissioner.

Attorneys Russel Geist and Brent Bryson say Commissioner Wesley Yamashita set the date while rejecting a bid by daughter Karen Williams to take control of King’s estate.

King died May 14 at home in Las Vegas at age 89. He is survived by 11 of his 15 natural and adopted children.

Williams previously lost a May 7 effort in court to take her father’s guardianship from Toney.

i guess entertainers with money feels like they have given their children enough money thru the years and that should be enough . after all if B.B> was 89 then his children should at least be 60 and should be able to take care of themselves and their family. you have to ask if they were close to their dad. children are a trip ! no rather they are a journey !

It’s interesting how when many celebrities die, that have a power of attorney who is not family, and a war breaks out. Why wouldn’t a family member have POA to take care of their own family member?

“Why wouldn’t a family member have POA to take care of their own family member?” My guess would be that he didn’t have a family member that was trustworthy enough to oversee his affairs.

You’re right Ms. Curly, the attorneys are the only winners. This is so messy. Money sure has a way of destroying things, no matter how small or large the amount.

I hope they can settle their differences. So many times when these great entertainers die their assets/money is tied up for years. When its all said and done the attorneys are the only ones happy.
