The now former TNT Academy principal, Nancy Gordeuk, will have some extra time on her hands.

USA Today reports that a letter from Dr. Heidi Anderson, chair of the board of directors at TNT Academy in Stone Mountain, Georgia confirms the school board has voted to rid themselves of Nancy Gordeuk. They issued a statement which read:

In light of recent events, the board of directors of TNT Academy has moved to dismiss Nancy Gordeuk as principal. During the coming transition, we will continue to prioritize support for our most recent graduates. Moreover, we will continue our commitment to providing students with the best educational classes, transcription services, and academic credit recovery possible.

Gordeuk apologized for her outburst at the graduation ceremony; where she erroneously dismissed the graduated and the audience, before realizing the valedictorian had yet to give his speech.

But when she tried to reassemble the group, and the task proved too daunting, her outburst of “Look who’s leaving, all the Black people” upset students and families in the audience and went viral online.

Days later, Gordeuk appeared to rescind her apology, saying she didn’t realize using the term “Black people” was racist.

In a ThisNthat article on the topic, it was clarified that the term itself wasn’t racist, and went into further explanation as to why it became a problem for her.

Making very bad matters even worse, Gordeuk’s son, Travis Gordeuk came to her defense in a Facebook post that included his use of the term – ‘Y’all n*ggers!’

I’m sure this was a problem even a school board in Georgia didn’t need and decided to get rid of her before things get even worse.

“People always think the worst, you know,” Gordeuk said to the media. “You say the word ‘Black,’ you know. Was I supposed to say African-American? Were they all born in Africa? No, they’re Americans.”

Many parents are said to have campaigned for the principal to be fired.
