Brandy and Fantasia are being called before the court to answer questions about why they really cut ties with their former publicist Courtney Barnes.
They’ll come face-to-face with their former rep as witnesses in his discrimination case against Sony Music, TheJasmineBrand.com reports. He’s accusing the company of firing him from the label because he’s Black.
Courtney’s lawsuit alleges that Fantasia’s manager told him that Sony Vice President Sarah Denninson hated him so much that she was willing to sabotage Fantasia’s career to get rid of him. The music publicist also claims that Fannie’s manager said Sarah accused him of using “shady business practices.”
The publicist believes that Sarah’s supposed accusations were nothing more than covert corporate racism. He insists that the statements were an attack on his professionalism and injurious to his reputation.
He’s specifically accused Sarah of slandering his name in the music industry, causing him great emotional stress. Courtney’s seeking $250,000 in damages, but Sony Music has responded by stating that the case should be thrown out.
Now, both Brandy and Fantasia are being asked to give a deposition on Sony’s alleged racial accusations Courtney and the label.
