Over a thousand people poured into a Wisconsin high school auditorium on Saturday to say goodbye to 19-year-old Tony Terrell Robinson Jr. On March 6, an unarmed Robinson was gunned down by Madison Police Department Officer Matt Kenny, during a confrontation. Kenny alleged Robinson attacked him when he responded to a 911 call about a man who assaulted several people in the area.

The Associated Press is reporting about 1600 people gathered into the Madison East High School auditorium to attend Robinson’s funeral, who was known as Terrell to his family and friends. Robinson’s death was just the latest in a long line of shooting which involved unarmed black men by the hands of police, which prompted protests. Robinson, who’s father is black and mother is wife, was shot in the torso, head, and upper body, which was revealed by the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office on Friday. Rev. David Hart, who presided over the memorial stated:

“It’s up to us to support Terrell’s vision of immortality … through our commitment to ensure that another senseless and violent murder like this doesn’t happen.”

Robinson’s shooting is currently being investigated by the  Wisconsin Department of Justice. Once they have finished with their reports, they will turn over their findings to the Dane County district attorney in two weeks, where the prosecutor will make the decision if Kenny will be charged.
