Jacque Reid talks to MSNBC anchor Joy Reid of ‘The Reid Report’ about the city of Detroit and if the city can recover from bankruptcy.

“All you get is the headlines and it’s all really negative. Detroit is home to the most positive people I ever met. It’s a strong community. There are people that love the city. But at the same time, you go to certain homes just outside of Downtown and homes are falling down,” Reid said.

  1. My parents live near downtown (Indian Village). Their neighbors bought the home next door for $60K, they lived in NY and saw the value. I am impressed with the development taking place downtown. Hoping Tech industry can bring growth. The city encourages people to come downtown. On our last visit there, we had dinner in Greektown and wanted to walk the waterfront/have drinks GM Building…at 10 pm there was a curfew outside. The police were forcing people off the waterfront outside the plaza….WTF, I was blown away. There’s a hotel in the building, prime waterfront location….what if guests want to stroll around? What’s the incentive to hang out at those establishments near the plaza on the water? The Windsor, Canada side has a totally different vibe.
