Because this is how America works: White male police officers are being granted immunity for killing unarmed Black men, but there’s a group of female police officers who are being chastised for posting sexy photos alongside photos of themselves in uniform on the Instagram account @BluelineBeauties. While there’s no real reporting on what exactly this Instagram account is about (and it’s private), it’s obvious that female officers post here to show both sides of themselves–feminine juxtaposed to their strong side. It’s essentially a social media campaign that inspires women to step into their power of being authority figures, while still holding on to their femininity. Because critics are slamming these women for being feminine, we’re begging the question: Where are the priorities for disciplining the police in this country? Do they start and stop with women?

According to reports, NYPD policy prohibits members of the police department from posting pictures of themselves in uniform on social media unless at official ceremonies. The policy was put in place to “protect officers from divulging identifying information on social media sites that may endanger officer safety.” Was anyone concerned with the FDNY’s calendar for charity that features the sexiest firemen in New York City, who are all shirtless, but still somehow still in uniform for our oogling pleasure? No? So then what’s the problem?

Someone asked a retired NYPD Captain, Peter Moreno about the issue of female officers posting photos on Instagram for some reasons and he said police officer’s credibility may be called into question by photos like these. Oh really? What about the credibility of officers like Darren Wilson and Daniel Pantaleo who think that shooting and choking to kill is protocol when dealing with Black men? What about the credibility of the officers like Timothy A. Loehmann, who thought that shooting 12-year-old Tamir Rice was the right thing to do, especially after it was reported that Loehmann was not only deemed unfit as a police officer, but he suffered through an emotional meltdown and had a “dangerous loss of composure” during live range training and his supervisor even said he lacked the maturity to be on the force. This is the credibility that should be questioned–not beautiful police officers taking sexy photos. We’ve got bigger fish to fry when it comes to law enforcement. What do you think about this beauties? Sound off in the comments below.
