Despite personal setbacks, El DeBarge appears to be on the way back.

The crooner revealed news of a comeback while celebrating Sheryl Underwood’s birthday during a recent appearance on The Talk. After performing on the show, DeBarge let the cat out of the bag, initially saying that he “wasn’t at liberty to say which label I’m signing with.”

At that point, the singer laughed and said: “Hello, L.A. Reid!”

“You can expect a brand new CD from me,” DeBarge continued. “One is for the holidays, a Christmas CD. The other one is a grown man, grown woman album.”

News of DeBarge’s comeback comes years after he released his last album, Second Chance, on Interscope Records in 2010. The project went on to garner three Grammy nominations as well as momentum from the release of two singles, the title track and ‘Lay With You’ featuring Faith Evans.

Despite this, sales for Second Chance were not successful in light of DeBarge checking into a rehab facility after suffering a setback with his sobriety.

El Debarge, 53, is best known for his classic hits such as “Rhythm Of The Night,” “Love Me In A Special Way,” “All This Love” and “Time Will Reveal”with his family group DeBarge, in addition to his hit collaboration with Al B. Sure!, Barry White and James Ingram on Quincy Jones’ “The Secret Garden (Sweet Seduction Suite).”
