“Bag lady you gone hurt your back
Dragging all them bags like that
I guess nobody ever told you
All you must hold on to
Is you, is you, is you”
— Bag Lady by Erykah Badu
A song that many are familiar with, and even more are familiar with the subject:personal baggage. During a recent episode of “The Real” talk show (shown above), the show’s “Girl Chat” portion revealed hosts Tamar Braxton, Adrienne Bailon, Jeannie Mai, Loni Love, and Tamera Mowry-Housley’s personal and professional insecurities that they’ve continued to struggle with. The ladies bravely shared stories about their sex appeal, their relationship woes, and everything in between.
Tamera shared after Jeannie and got really emotional. The former child star said that because she is a twin, the unavoidable comparisons eventually weighed on her self-esteem.

“Um, being a twin, people compare and they compare a lot…by default. It’s not their fault, but sometimes they see two people and they either say, ‘Oh, she’s the sexy one,’ or ‘She’s the cute one.’ Well, I was known as the goofy cute one. I used to read our fan mail all the time and that’s what I used to get all the time when I was 16 years old. Well I kept it and going to college, I carried that. I always thought it was a negative term because all I wanted to be was sexy.”
Lonnie revealed her personal insecurity with fashion. And how she wasn’t able to purchase high-end clothes early on in her career. And even feels that same insecurity on this show.
Tamar was one of the last to open up but revealed that she was diagnosed and struggles with the skin disease vitiligo. And how people have accused her of bleaching her skin in the past was and still is particularly hurtful.
