Dear Black People: if Dear White People is in your city this weekend, it’s a great date night movie.
It’s funny and will remind you somewhat of a mashup of School Daze and Higher Learning with a little Hollywood Shuffle backstory thrown in. Writer/director Justin Simien did the modern-day version of charging the movie on his credit cards – he used Indiegogo to raise funds for the movie.
This weekend is also Howard’s homecoming weekend and we suspect the movie will be required viewing for most who attended what alumni affectionately call “The Mecca.” Chris Brown and Trey Songz are hosting a party and Lauryn Hill is also in town. Should be interesting crowds at both.
And if you’re an NFL fan, this weekend’s game features one of the league’s best up-and-coming QB’s and one of the league’s best, whose looking for set a record for most touchdown passes of all time as the 49’ers take on Denver. Here’s what else is happening this weekend.
