With a little over two months left, Lifetime has released a short teaser promoting their upcoming biopic, ‘The Princess of R&B: Aaliyah’.
The film has seen its share of challenges in the last year from casting actress Zendaya in the lead role and then having to find a replacement quickly after the Disney star dropped out, to Aaliyah’s family making it known that they are not here for a remake of this caliber.
When news came that the network finally found their ‘Aaliyah’ in Alexandra Shipp and that talk show maven Wendy Williams came on as Executive Producer, production was fast tracked and now the fans of the late singer get a first hand look at Shipp in action.

It is reported that the television movie will focus on her music career as well as her two high profile romances with R. Kelly and music mogul, Damon Dash.
