Treating your tresses with a hair mask every once in a while is a great way to lock in moisture and banish those pesky split ends. If you’ve never done a hair mask before, I would start with an easy DIY protein mask that you can create at home. Use it every couple of weeks and you should see an improvement in your hair’s strength, softness and overall shine.

Shampoo and Condition Correctly

Shampooing and conditioning may seem like a basic step in the hair care process, but you may be surprised that you are missing a few key things. Focus on your roots as you shampoo and not the hair shaft, focus the conditioner on the ends of your hair, rinse with cool water.

Comb It Out

Whether it’s a specialized brush or a wide tooth comb make sure you detangle your tresses during the conditioning process. Be mindful that wet hair can be very fragile, so don’t be too heavy handed.
