Singer Simone Battle of G.R.L. has suddenly passed away at the age of 25.

The singer, who first gained fame while competing on “X Factor” in 2011, was found dead yesterday in Los Angeles. People.com reports that the cause of her death is unclear at this time.

After her run on the reality competition, she was recruited for G.R.L. by Pussycat Dolls creator Robin Antin. The choreographer released a statement on Simone’s death along with Reign Deer Entertainment, Kemosabe Records and RCA Records.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the loss of Simone Battle of G.R.L. Simone was an exceptional young talent and human being, and we are all devastated to learn of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones at this time.”

The devastating news has taken her band mates by surprise; they haven’t spoken out about her passing yet.

Simone had plenty to celebrate this summer as G.R.L. released their first EP back in July. She shared that their latest single, “Ugly Heart,” has really taken off overseas.
