Popular beauty supply chain, Sally Beauty Holdings is the latest in a consumer data breach investigation. Reports has discovered evidence that customer records were illegally accessed and removed from its system. In a statement released by the company, the number of files containing card information taken is under 25,000.
Sally has hired Verizon to conduct its investigation and the U.S. Secret Service, which has jurisdiction over computer hacking, is investigating the matter.
The company first noticed the original breach on March 5 after an online publication from Krebson Security reported cards used at Sally Beauty Supply stores were among a batch recently purchased by banks monitoring cyber criminals dealing in stolen consumer data.
