Paramount recently re-launched its television division with plans to raid its own movie library and team with experienced film and TV writers for series adaptations.

The first fruit of this venture is a new pilot script based on the studio’s 1990 film “Ghost,” which won Oscars for best original screenplay (Bruce Joel Rubin) and supporting actress (Whoopi Goldberg).

The film follows the recently deceased Sam Wheat (Patrick Swayze), who teams up with psychic Oda Mae Brown (Goldberg) in an effort to reconnect with his fiancee (Demi Moore) and avenge his murder.

No word yet on who will  star in the TV version. Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman and veteran showrunner Jeff Pinkner will co-write the pilot script, according to Deadline.com.
