Gabrielle Union will be at the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington on Saturday but don’t expect to see boyfriend Dwyane Wade there with her. She told the Tom Joyner Morning Show that Wade and his two sons, Zaire and Zion are on their annual “mancation” and won’t be back until tomorrow. You can check out the visuals via Wade’s Instagram account.

Union will be also helping promote a new civil rights stamp issued by the U. S. Post Office that will be unveiled online and onsite at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. The stamp is a limited edition and the third in a civil rights set that includes one commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and another celebrating Rosa Park’s 100th birthday. Union will be on hand for the official unveiling today, which you can see on the United States Postal Service Facebook page. Facebook.com/USPSStamps

“This is the third one out of the tree. And it’s actually really cool because what they’ve done is that there will be a digital unveiling of the new stamp artwork that will be unveiled later on today. They asked people all over the country to sumbit their Facebook or their Twitter profile pic as a part of this mosaic. As you added your pic, you got a little piece of the artwork unveiled and today you’ll see all of the thousands of people who submitted their pictures who wanted to take a stand for equality.”

Union won’t be an official participant in the March as she’s not on the lengthy list of speakers that have cost Tom Joyner some on-air consternation. (He is hosting and must keep speakers at 2 minutes apiece.) But Union says she’s happy to be involved in the 50th Anniversary March in any way she can.

“Sometimes you just want to be in the building. You don’t have to be on stage. I just want to be a part of the movement and be on the right side of history.”

You can see Union star in “Being Mary Jane” coming to BET in January of 2014.
