Lebron James has decided to part ways from his long time agent Leon Rose to join a new agency started by his friend Rich Paul.

Sources report that the departure between James and Rose is not based on hard feelings. Representatives for the NBA star said the shift is simply a matter of creating a new relationship with an up and coming agency.

Paul, who worked under Rose at the Creative Artists Agency, has known James since he was a teenager and has earned the respect of industry executives during his short-time as an agent. Paul has represented athletes such as Michael Kidd-Gilchris and Tristan Thompson of the Charlotte Bobcats and Los Angeles Clipper Eric Bledsoe.

Paul is expected to take several other CAA athletes with him to his new agency which is a standard practice within the industry. Upcoming 2013 free-agent Chris Paul is also represented by the CAA and is known to have close ties with the budding agent. The two are not related.

This is not the first time James has decided to shift his business matters around. Shortly after joining the Miami Heat in 2011, he switched his marketing management to Fenway Sports Group and in return gained a piece of ownership in Liverpool FC.  James also partnered with Paul when he started his own marketing company, LMMR when he dropped Goodwin as an agent.
