New reports indicate that Jesse Jackson Jr. ready to continue his campaign for mayor of Chicago.

Jackson’s chief of staff, Rick Bryant told reporters that he has reached out to mayors in over 25 Chicago suburbs to prepare them for Jackson’s return.

"I told them that the congressman was feeling much better and that he was looking for updates on several projects in the district," Bryant told the media. "The congressman also said he expects to be home soon; he is looking forward to getting back to work; and he fully expects to be running for re-election in the fall."

The nine-term lawmaker took a two month medical leave in June. He was admitted to the Mayo Clinic for depression and gastrointestinal treatment.

Most recently Jackson defeated former congresswoman Debby Halvorson in a Democratic primary. He is currently under investigation by the House Ethics Committee in connection to raising funds for Rod Blagojevich’s campaign in exchange for Barack Obama’s former Senate seat.
