When Chuks Collins dropped his latest collection at New York Fashion Week (NYFW), he didn’t just debut new clothes.  Known for celebrating Black culture, heritage, and the art of draping a woman’s body just right, Collins brought his first-ever home and fashion collab to life in an intimate, well-curated presentation.

We were there for it all!

The collection came to life on Feb. 8 through a partnership with Lush Décor, a luxury home brand led by Chinese American designer Jenny Jing Zhu. Themed Mycelium Whispers,” the event featured models rocking pieces from Chuks’ latest collection in home-inspired settings, paired with complementary décor from the Lush Decor x Chuks Collins line.

Chuks Collins Fashion Meets Home: The Vision Behind the Collection

This 18-piece collection wasn’t just about another garment but about redefining what home can mean. And no, not just where you lay your head at night.

Collins broke it down into three levels: home as Earth, the bigger world we all share; home as a sanctuary, the spaces that give us comfort; and home as clothing, the pieces we wear that provide us protection and self-expression.

“The clothes we wear are like armor,” Collins explained. “Clothes are a shield for you.” That concept shaped the entire collection, making his fusion of fashion and interior design feel like a match made in style heaven.

Designer Jenny Jing Zhu shared her passion for the project: “My mission is to inspire people to continue beyond their circumstances.” As a fellow immigrant who has overcome her own struggles, the definition of home and style also has its own meaning for Zhu.

To bring the vision to life, Collins used a mix of rich fabrics like velvet, wool, faux and patent leather, and chiffon. His talent for blending textures made each piece feel intentional and dynamic. He created a collection that speaks to how we want to feel—in our clothes and homes.

Zhu agrees. “So this collection is mysterious and made with many fancy, frilly materials. I love the fancy, frilly, glamorous look.”

She added, “When I first started out designing, I was inspired by Vera Wang. I started designing bedding like wedding dresses.”

From Mushrooms to Masterpieces: The Unexpected Inspiration

Beyond home and fashion, Collins drew inspiration from an unexpected source—mushrooms. Two years ago, while undergoing chemotherapy, he learned about mycelium—the underground network that mushrooms grow from.

“I was fascinated by how mycelium connects life and death,” he shared. “I wanted to bring that into my designs—elevating it into functional and wearable pieces.”

Zhu also praised the ethereal beauty of the pieces. She said, “What I like about working with Chuks and his collection is that it’s very dreamy and beautiful, with a lot of pleating and fabrics. When you add it to the bedding and other home pieces, it’s just beautiful together.”

The Lush Decor x Chuks Collins will be exclusively available on Amazon later this year.
