John Legend

Kanye West has been very active on Twitter lately tweeting about his love for Donald Trump and conservative leaders such as Candace Owens.

Fellow artist John Legend reached out to West in a personal set of text messages nicely asking him to reconsider aligning himself with the President, according to Vox.

The message read, “I hope you’ll reconsider aligning yourself with Trump. You’re way too powerful and influential to endorse who he is and what he stands for. As you know, what you say really means something to your fans,” wrote Legend. “So many people who love you feel so betrayed right now because they know the harm that Trump’s policies cause. Don’t let this be part of your legacy.”

Legend even ended the message praising Kanye and his music by texting, “you’re the greatest artist of our generation.” After saying no to him in a text, West turned around and did something very wild.

Not too pleased by the message, West decided to put their entire conversation on Twitter telling the singer that he would not consider changing his views and that his opinion was his and his alone.

In his tweet, West accused Legend of messing with his “free thought.” He does have the right to his own opinion but what Legend was trying to get West to understand that his support of the President has hurt a lot of his fans.

Legend was caught off guard when he saw his text messages had been tweeted out by West.
