H&M’s ad featuring a black boy in a “Coolest Monkey in the Jungle” hoodie has sparked worldwide outrage and accusations of racism, but his mom doesn’t see anything wrong with the imaging, and says people just need to “get over it.”

According to African Warrior magazine, the boy’s mother is Terry Mango, a Kenyan living in Stockholm, Sweden, where H&M is based.

Mango took to Facebook amid the international uproar to say the whole thing has been blown out of proportion.

“[I] am the mum, and this is one of hundreds of outfits my son has modeled. Stop crying wolf all the time, [it’s] an unnecessary issue here. Get over it.. That’s my son, [I’ve] been to all photoshoots and this was not an exception. Everyone is entitled to their opinion about this… I really don’t understand but not [because I’m] choosing not to, but because it’s not my way of thinking. Sorry.”

Welp, you can imagine what people are writing on Terry Mango’s timeline.

However, it is possible that as a Kenyan living in Stockholm, the boy’s mother is simply unaware how the graphic hoodie would be misconstrued by an American audience. The Weeknd and deejay/artist G Eazy have now pulled their collaborations with H&M and it’s rumoured that Diddy has offered the boy a $1 million modeling contract, presumably with his Sean John label.

While that offer hasn’t yet been confirmed, Diddy did comment on the ad on his social media platforms.
