After harsh online body shaming comments about her body, Mariah Carey went under the knife for weight loss surgery.
Page Six reports that Carey had a gastric sleeve surgery in October by a highly recommended Beverly Hills surgeon that dramatically changed her weight.
A source close to Carey told Page Six, “Mariah has always been proud of her curves, but this summer, as her Caesars Palace residency came to a close, and then she went on tour with Lionel Richie, she noticed it became harder to dance, and she was getting a lot more criticism from online body shamers.”
After undergoing surgery, the source said that Carey is seeing good results and as a result feels much better. However, her representative Nicole Perna would not give a comment on her current condition.
She reportedly lost 70 pounds in 2011 after the birth of her twins. She explained, “I never weighed myself. People will think I’m a liar but it’s true…I’m a big boned girl, I’m tall, and so I always weigh more.”
