Katherine Jackson has stepped down as co-guardian over the late Michael Jackson’s son Blanket Jackson.
ABC News reports that court documents filed earlier this month in the Los Angeles County Superior court confirmed it.
Tito Jackson and his mother served as co-guardians of Prince, Paris and Blanket in 2012. However now, Tito will have sole guardianship of Blanket.
TMZ reports that the 87-year-old says Blanket has reached his adolescence and will go into the care of his uncle full-time. Reports also suggested that she hinted at her age as a major factor in giving up her part of the guardianship.
Court documents said, “Katherine is no longer needed to fulfill the duties that were necessary when joint-guardians were appointed September 14, 2012,“ It continued, “Given her own age and the fact that (Blanket) I now 15-years-old, Katherine feels the T.J. is able to assume all necessary responsibilities the guardianship.”
When Michael Jackson died in 2009 from propofol intoxication, Katherine Jackson was the given main guardianship of the children until Tito joined in 2012.
