CINCINNATI (AP) — The trial of a white University of Cincinnati police officer who fatally shot an unarmed black motorist has resumed after juror concerns over their privacy interrupted the last court session.
The trial of former officer Ray Tensing resumed Monday after the judge announced one of four alternate jurors withdrew over privacy concerns. Hamilton County Judge Megan Shanahan told jurors she wants them to feel safe and won’t release questionnaires they filled out during jury selection while the trial is going on.
Prosecution testimony resumed with a Hamilton County forensic scientist.
The 26-year-old Tensing is charged with voluntary manslaughter in last year’s fatal shooting of 43-year-old Sam DuBose during a traffic stop. Tensing has said he feared being dragged to death when DuBose tried to drive away.
