When 1-year-old Demarco came home from his D.C. area daycare on Tuesday, his parents noticed a bald patch on the side of the toddler’s head.

“It was disturbing, like, all I could do was get upset and just cry,” Demarco’s mother Daizha Rosser said in an interview with NBC4 Washington.

Furious, Rosser and the baby’s father Lawrence McEachin visited Demarco’s daycare, Kids Are Us Learning Center, where a teacher told them another child ripped out her son’s hair.

After Rosser and McEachin demanded to view surveillance tape, they witnessed something a parent could never imagine. They say the video revealed it was actually a teacher – not a fellow student – who pulled out Demarco’s hair.

“Pull, pull, pull. He fell; [she] pulled again and snatched it right off,” McEachin said to NBC4 Washington. “I can only imagine he was crying.”

D.C. police say an employee at the daycare center has been charged with first-degree cruelty to a child, NBC 4 reports.

McEachin said the teacher’s explanation was inexcusable. He and Rosser plan to press charges.

“Her excuse was she was irritated. Your job is to watch kids. Kids will irritate you. He irritates me, but you’re not going to see me – I’m not going to do nothing of that nature,” he said.

The owner of the daycare center told NBC4 the incident was “horrific,” and said she already has “policies and procedures in place.”
