“Girlfriends” vet Golden Brooks is set to co-star opposite Damon Wayans Sr. in “Lethal Weapon,” Fox’s hourlong pilot based on the buddy cop movie franchise.
In the pilot, Texas cop and former Navy SEAL Martin Riggs suffers the loss of his wife and baby before he moves to Los Angeles to start anew. There, he’s partnered with LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh (Wayans), who, having recently suffered a “minor” heart attack, must avoid stress in his life.
Brooks will play Roger’s hard-working, perceptive and loving wife Trish who worries about him and is not thrilled when she hears about his new adrenaline-crazed partner, reports Deadline.com. In the films, Trish was played by Darlene Love and Roger by Danny Glover.
Brooks, who co-starred on “Girlfriends” for eight seasons and recurred on the CW’s “Hart of Dixie,” currently recurs on Starz’s “Blunt Talk” and filmed a recurring role in Freeform’s Nicki Minaj comedy pilot.
