Can we say #BlackGirlMagic or better yet, #BlackWomanMagic!

LaShandra Warren was named the first African-American court administrator at Montgomery County Courthouse back in December.

Her first day in her historic role was on January 4, 2016 and it came after 11 years of hard work, The Montgomery Advertiser reports:

Warren, 39, was a judicial assistant for the past 11 years. She describes herself as being the “go-to” person for whichever judge she worked for. For 10 years, that was Judge Charles Price, now retired. She then worked with Price’s successor Judge J.R. Gaines for the past year.

Now, Warren said she is excited being the “go-to” person for, essentially, the entire courthouse.

“The court administrator handles the day-to-day duties of the courthouse,” Warren said. “Basically, I’ll be the go-to person, and what’s funny is being a judicial assistant, I was already a go-to person for many people.”

Growing up in Montgomery’s housing projects, Warren overcame her surroundings and went on to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice followed by two master’s degrees.

According to KMOV, her upbringing is what lead her to the field of criminal justice, she explained, “One of the main things that led me to criminal justice is just seeing how people I grew up with were dealing with different things, going through the criminal justice system and being mistreated.”

She is only the fourth-ever court administrator at the Montgomery County Courthouse. She is also the first female to be appointed to the position.
