We are one week away from the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which will finally give racist diehards of the franchise other things to focus on besides the “black stormtrooper.”

The casting of John Boyega famously caused controversy on Nov. 28, 2014, when he appeared in a stormtrooper costume in the film’s first teaser, offending bigoted fans of the franchise far and wide.

After the Monday Night Football premiere of the movie’s official trailer last October, a boycott was urged by two Donald Trump supporters trolling under the hashtag #BoycottStarWarsVII, claiming the film promotes “white genocide” and was made “to demoralize and destroy Whites.”

Scores of like-minded people took it seriously and suddenly the hashtag was a top trending topic.

When the racial backlash inevitably came up at the film’s recent press conference, Boyega – whose actual character is a “redeemed First Order stormtrooper” named Finn – had absolutely no patience for the question.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” opens Dec. 14 in Los Angeles and Dec. 18 nationwide.
