It’s been a while since Rachel Dolezal commanded headlines, but the former Spokane, Washington NAACP president is living life away from the spotlight.

According to a recent article in Broadly, Dolezal is now pregnant, and struggling to get by. Nevertheless, that hasn’t stopped her from doing her modeling thing on Instagram with a picture of her wearing her “ethnic bohemian weave from Boho Exotic Studio.

The photos of Dolezal on Boho Exotic Studio‘s Instagram page have been deleted.

Chatting with Broadly, Dolezal revealed that she’s pretty broke and still using her bronzer. The interview comes months after she made headlines after her family outed her for pretending to be black.

Broadly goes on to report that Dolezal is trying to understand why former friends have dropped her.

Here are a few other highlights from the Broadly interview:

How did she get her start doing hair:

As Esther grew older, Rachel started doing her hair, along with the hair of Sarah, a black girl who was adopted by a neighboring white family. “I just researched it,” Rachel says. “No one else knew what to do with her hair. I figured it out and started braiding her hair.”

What about being depressed after being outed:

“I’ve struggled with depression to the point where I wonder if it’s even in my kids’ best interest for me to stay around,” Rachel says. “I feel like I’m a liability to my own children.”

The idea of naming her unborn son after Langston Hughes:

“I’m naming him Langston because of Langston Hughes’ ‘Mother to Son’ poem,” Rachel explains. “Life hasn’t been easy for me at all, but I keep going. I’m still climbing, so don’t you sit down and stop. You keep going, and I want that to be a lesson for all my sons.”

What about her activism career:

“I do have a high level of commitment and integrity to the cause,” Rachel says. “Maybe there’s something internationally I could do with human rights.”
