Comedian and “The View” host Whoopi Goldberg has a new book out titled “If Someone Says ‘You Complete Me,’ Run!” and in it, the thrice-married-and-divorced mother advises couples and singles to wait 3-4 years into a relationship before revealing your darkest secrets to your partner, and she says it’s okay to cheat so as long as you do so with someone who is “reputable.”

59-year-old Whoopi says she doesn’t have time to date because it’s too much work, but her experience lends to this book which she says is for the lady who has a lot of “responsibilities and lots of things going on in her life and in her mind and in her heart.” The New York Post has listed some excerpts from the book (see below), including Whoopi’s belief that a prenup is an “act of love.”

Be Firm On Your Standards: “There are probably a million things you don’t want. Be clear and specific. Don’t wait until the honeymoon to figure it out . . . That way, you won’t let chemistry or attraction or lust or wishful thinking get you into a relationship that you know isn’t right for you.”

Don’t Reveal Too Much About Yourself: “I don’t recommend sharing everything at once with people. After some time, say three to four years, when you find that this is the person you’re going to stay with or you hope to stay with, then it’s a pretty good idea to tell him the thing that you are the most afraid of someone finding out.”

Women & Aging: “Women are afraid that once they get older, men will no longer find them attractive. That there’s some kind of expiration date on them. The truth of the matter is you never know who is going to find you attractive.”

Cheat with Discretion: “Sometimes in a relationship, people can’t always get what they need, and if you have reputable people you can turn to in order to get what you need, I say go for it. It is a whole lot better than being frustrated and angry at the person you love.”

Say YES to Prenups: “A prenup is an act of love. It allows you to both be clear from the beginning, to discuss things and set things up properly . . . Also, from then on, you are staying with this person for the right reasons, not because you are afraid he is going to take all your money if it doesn’t work out.”
