Bow Wow is parting ways with Cash Money Records after more than five years on the label.
He wanted to clarify why before any rumors started. “This is a peaceful situation,” he posted in a Facebook video announcement, according to HotNewHipHop.
Bow Wow thanked Birdman for signing him and there’s no beef, but after not producing a single album under the label, it was his time to go.
“I wanna dictate when my music comes out,” he said. “I’m tired of going to the studio to make records and then I listen to them. ‘Cuz they get old… I just can’t be held up by nobody. It’s as simple as that.”
The 28-year-old rapper is focusing on being his own boss, but will have working relationships with Jermaine Dupri and Snoop Dogg.
“Now that I have both of them in cahoots with each other, this is only gonna make my new situation even more monumental,” said Bow Wow who has a Dupri-produced single on the way.
