According to a report by theJasmineBrand blog, Lil Wayne has dropped his $51 million dollar lawsuit against Birdman and Cash Money Records.

The suit was filed in January over allegations of Birdman of violating the deal they had and not getting paid several million dollars for Weezy’s yet to be released album “Tha Carter V”.

Wayne demanded that the court allow him to leave his contract with Cash Money due to the record label breaching their deal by not paying him his money. He filed suit against Cash Money for 51 million dollars for the money he was owed and damages for them not releasing his album. Wayne also wanted a court order stating he was the rightful owner of all copyrights related to Drake, Nicki Minaj and others.

Sources close to Wayne explained at the time that the rapper was willing to drop the lawsuit if he was paid the 8 million advance he was owed when he began recording “Tha Carter V” and also the 2 million he was to be paid for completing the album.

In any event, today (04-06-15), seemingly out of nowhere, Lil Wayne filed documents in the case; he’s voluntarily dismissing the lawsuit against Cash Money “without prejudice.” That means he could re-file, but apparently Wayne and Birdman have worked out some kind of agreement. At least that’s the logical assumption. See the legal filing here.
