MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) — Flavor Flav has pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from a New York traffic stop last year while he was driving to his mother’s funeral.

The rapper and reality TV star was indicted last month on a felony charge of driving with a suspended license. He also faces a speeding violation and two misdemeanors for driving without a license.

Flav was released without bail. His next court date is Feb. 3.

Flav’s real name is William Drayton. He appeared in court Wednesday and declined to discuss the allegations.

He had several court appearances last year on the case, but attempts at a plea agreement never materialized.

Prosecutors say Flav had his license suspended 16 times before being stopped on Jan. 9, 2014.
