Charity Ann Johnson (pictured), a Texas woman arrested for posing as a 15-year-old to get in to high school, was released Tuesday, KLTV reports.

Johnson enrolled at Longview’s New Life Christian School last October. Per one officer, Johnson gave her “Charite Stevens” as her name, with a birthday of November 24, 1997. She used this information to enroll. A school spokesperson said Johnson enrolled with a person who was her guardian, Tamica Lincoln.
But Lincoln claims Johnson lied to her about her age, saying she needed shelter. “I sympathized with her, and invited her in to my home. I took her in as a child, did her hair, got her clothes and shoes,” Lincoln said.
Charity also told Lincoln her parents had abused her. While acting as her guardian, Lincoln even met with Johnson’s teachers. “I just don’t know why she did it. Why put yourself and others at risk to do something like this?” Lincoln asked. “I have deep concerns about her being who we don’t know she is, and then she’s out there at the school.”
Lincoln notified the police as soon as she discovered Johnson was lying about her identity. She also went to the school.
“Teachers were crying and students were crying, and her best friend just couldn’t believe it.” While jail records claimed Johnson was 31, police later found she was actually 34. She was arrested on failure to identify/giving false, fictitious information.
Officers arrested her in an apartment complex last month, with Johnson serving 29 days behind bars before her release.
