Prince is running his own show.

According to reports, the living legend cut ties with former publishers Universal Music and launched his own company to handle his continuously-growing catalog of music.

The Purple One announced that he’s assigning all rights to NPG Music Publishing, a limited liability company, in a press release. “The team will be led by some of the best talent in the industry,” he shared of his new venture.

“Prince’s last publishing deal was with Universal Music,” according to the Hollywood Reporter. “He had been inked to Kobalt Music for a label services deal, but chose to release his latest single through L.A. Reid’s Epic label.”

“NPG Music Publishing is now actively seeking placement for some of Prince’s best-loved songs in film, television, video games and the commercial realm,” the release added. The company’s first major placement was Prince’s new single “FALLINLOVE2NITE” on Fox’s “New Girl.”

We all know Prince funks to the beat of his own drum, and we aren’t mad at him.
