Sorry fans but LeBron James doesn’t believe he can fly and he won’t be rocking a Toon Squad jersey any time soon.

According to the Miami Heat star’s rep, rumors that he was cast as lead in Space Jam 2 were just that — rumors. His team denied any involvement with the project, which would be a sequel to the 1996 blockbuster hit starring Michael Jordan.

Deadline originally reported the news last Friday.

After he recovers from the injury suffered in last night’s game, NBA MVP LeBron James will be ready for his close-up — with Bugs Bunny. Broadcasting veteran Dick Ebersol‘s sons have come on board to develop the sequel to 1996 animated/live-action hit Space Jam as a starring vehicle for James, the studio confirmed.

Another Space Jam film? Why not? The first film, which broke ground for Warner Bros and starred then-Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan and a slew of other top NBA players, ended up grossing $230M worldwide for the studio.

Although a meeting between the film’s producers and LeBron has yet to take place, the NBA star said he would consider the opportunity if it presented itself.

“I haven’t heard anything about it,” he said in a recent interview with the Palm Beach Post. “Like I said, I’ve always loved ‘Space Jam 1.’ It was one of my favorite movies growing up. If I have the opportunity, it’d be great. But that’s news to me. Obviously I don’t want to be on there with this (bandage) on my (broken) nose. We’ll see what happens.”

When asked if a matchup with the Monstars (the rival team in the movie) would freak him out, he said “absolutely.”

“Those guys are very intimidating and they’re bigger than us,” he told the newspaper. “We’ve got to do our due diligence here on Earth.”
