The Giant store is facing scrutiny after they published an advertisement welcoming students from the HBCU Howard University with a white woman as the featured image.
According to USA Today, 87% of Howard’s undergraduate and graduate population are black. Less than 1% of the student population consists of white students.
The ad was placed in Giant’s circular to promote the new store near Howard’s campus. It was only published in the circular for that location.
Howard University has not commented on the image.
