A police dashboard camera video shows how a routine traffic stop led to police firing at a minivan full of children.

39-year-old Oriana Ferrell was traveling with her five kids through Albuquerque, New Mexico when she was pulled over for going 71 mph in a 55 mph zone on October 28, 2013.

The video shows a police officer arguing with Ferrell over the ticket but when the officer walked away to go to his vehicle, she can be seen pulling off. Minutes later, the officers pull her over again and that’s when things went really south.

The officers asked Ferrell to exit the car multiple times before reaching into the van to pull her out. That’s when Ferrell’s 14-year-old son got out of the vehicle and approached one of the officers before the officer pulled out a taser on the teen.

While this occurred, the struggle with Ferrell continued and she pulled off for a second time. As she pulls off, an officer can be seen firing off three shots at the minivan.

Luckily no one was injured but she did lead the police on a 4-minute chase before she pulled into a hotel parking lot to turn herself in.  She and her son were arrested.

ABC News reports:

“Ferrell was charged with five counts of abuse of a child, aggravated fleeing an officer, resisting an officer, reckless driving and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her teenage son was charged with battery of an officer.”

The police department is doing an internal investigation into the incident.
