Wednesday morning in Los Angeles the Screen Actors Guild announced the nominations for the upcoming SAG Awards.

Among the nominees are actors Alfre Woodard and Denzel Washington for their performances on television and in film.

Woodard’s nomination came for her role in the TV movie version of “Steel Magnolias,” in which she played Ouiser, a grouchy, two-time widow who along with five other women share a bond in the parish of Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Not surprisingly, Washington received a nomination for his role as Whip Whitaker in the hit film “Flight,” in which he plays a gifted pilot with a substance-abuse problem who has the challenge of landing a crippled plane.

The 19th Annual SAG Awards will take place in the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center on January 27, 2013 and will be aired on TNT and TBS at 8pm Eastern 5pm Pacific.
