If you’re a weather nerd, you might know that Jackson, Mississippi’s Vivian Brown has been on The Weather Channel for more than 25 years.  But if you’re like most of us, you didn’t even know the channel had been around that long. (They celebrated 30 years on air this summer.)  No matter. While you sleep, Vivian Brown studies weather patterns and storms so that you can be prepared no matter what it’s like outside. No winds, no rain and no winter cold stop this weather woman from getting the information out to viewers concerned about storms, floods, cold, heat, ice and all the other kinds of weather issues that can happen around the country. Brown, who earned a degree in Meteorology at Jackson State University, says she became a meteorologist because she was always fascinated with storms as a child, and that she saw the field as being open to minorities and women.

You can catch Brown every weekday on “Day Planner” from 11 to 2 p.m.
