This year’s Tom Joyner Family Reunion is taking place at the Gaylord Resort in Orlando, Florida from August 30-September 3 and 15-year-old Jacob Latimore will be there as part of the teen concert that also features the OMG Girlz and Diggy Simmons.
The Milwaukee native and his family moved to Atlanta in support of his career which began when his first single “Best Friend” made it onto Radio Disney. Now signed to RCA, Latimore is following the path set by other teen singers like Usher, Brandy and Monica, who all started their careers while they were still adolescents. He’s already a staple on both the “Scream” tour and the Mindless Behavior #1 Girl Tour.
But Latimore is only a singer. He’s an actor as well, and has already been cast as the lead of the new BET show “Young Man On Campus,” part of BET’s fall schedule. He plays Jacob Matthews, a 15-year-old college student. The sitcom’s characters were already introduced on the BET series “Reed Between the Lines.” Teri J. Vaughn will play Latimore’s mother and soap vet Dondre Whitfield will play his professor/mentor. Angela Simmons has been cast as the college girl Matthews has a crush on.
