Dear Tom

My mom is a coal miner’s daughter who is the oldest of 10 siblings. She worked at General Electric for 25 years until her retirement in 2000.

Since then, She moved down to Georgia and does work for the outreach ministry at The Greater Fellowship Missionary Church. She also donates monies & school supplies for public school students; mentors & tutors youth; donates clothing to women shelters; visits the nursing homes and has given countless people a room to stay in her home.

More importantly, she has been a caregiver for her husband who is was dialysis patient for 10 years until two weeks ago…he was fortunate to get a match for a kidney and he is making an amazing recovery.

My mom is a breath of fresh air to everyone she meets. She enjoys sending greeting cards and making arts & crafts – and she is currently crocheting a portrait of President Obama.

She is a huge fan of The President – with a special section of the house dedicated to him.  her entire wardrobe is mainly Obama t-shirts. She loves to cook and her biggest wish would be to invite them to her home for a southern home cooked meal but she would like to re-do her kitchen first.

I marvel at my mom’s generosity. Lovingly, she says she does it from the heart. She has inspired me to have a more giving spirit

Sincerely,

Sharon Liggins-Smalls
