Life behind bars for Lil’ Kim ain’t no
Cristal stair, but according to her lawyer, she’s adjusted well to living without such expensive champagne, excessive bling and designer clothes while serving her 366-day bid at Philly’s Federal Detention Center.
“The warden and the staff at the FDC have been great with Kim,” hew lawyer James Leonard Jr. told allhiphop.com. “She has neither sought [nor] received any special treatment. They have respected her privacy and have treated her extremely fair."
Leonard says his client spends her days working at a prison assigned job, reading her favorite book "The Da Vinci Code," listening to the radio, responding to fan mail and penning lyrics.
"I think this entire experience has unearthed new depths for Kim, both as a person and an artist," Leonard told the Web site. "I think you will see that in the direction she takes upon her release from prison."
Her release date is scheduled for August 2, however, Leonard believes she could be out of the facility in late June. Kim would then be placed on house arrest until early August and on three years supervised release.
"That is something that we are aggressively working on right now," Leonard told Allhiphop.com.
In the meantime, the Dec. 22 Christmas toy giveaway in Philadelphia hosted by Lil’ Kim’s non-profit Lil’ Kim Cares drew over 1,000 local residents. The event was broadcast live on a local radio station and was co-sponsored by Philadelphia veteran Charlie Mack and Brooklyn boxing champion Zab Judah and his Fight For Life Foundation.
"The charity event was a huge success and something that was very near and dear to Kim's heart," Leonard said.
